http://www.arketipo.com/ Founded in 1982, Arketipo has consolidated its position as one of the leading companies
in the sector of upholstered furniture. Its creations have contributed to the
establishment and diffusion of a personal style, enriching the history of Italian design with
innovations of taste, form and technology.
Grasping the trends of the contemporary lifestyle and reinterpreting them in sober and
essential shapes, proposing systems in line with the spirit of our times, creating
destructured and multifunctional modular icons for the enjoyment of leisure, these are
the benchmarks of the corporate philosophy, the added value which makes it stand out
from the rest.
Accademia, Triclinium, Canape, Easy, Whisky, XL, Box, Psiko right up to Loft, these are the
cult pieces of collections which, transcending fashion, opt for a discreet elegance and a
style which rejects the anxieties of glamorous design. Timeless, Easy living, Honey, Fusion
are the manifesto adjectives which bear witness to the growth of corporate know-how,
marking out a constant evolution defined by a guiding thread: the search for solutions of
maximum comfort, of attractive and liveable systems which can be freely combined to
meet the different requirements of space. Functional programmes, addressed to an astute
public, sensitive to the appeal of the divan, but not subordinated to the attractions of
flashy design or passing trends. And so being modern means opting for calibrated,
geometrical modules which make up into the ideal shapes designed to enhance comfort.
Achieving the synthesis of values such as the functionality and expressiveness of the
product is strategic for the company. And this is why research represents an essential
component of its development. The close collaboration with designers of varied
experience, such as Carlo Bimbi and Adriano Piazzesi, nourishes a continual process of
both formal and technological innovation. And so the minimalism of Easy and XL is
matched with the highlighting of details such as the feet in die-cast aluminium or the
optional fold-away headrest roll, which has become one of the characteristic functional
features of Arketipo. In Whisky, a proposal of a more international stamp, the
unmistakable cushion with its sinuous contours also becomes armrest, flexibly
accommodating every type of position, while the wedge-shaped armrest featured in
Psiko, which can also be used originally as a headrest, converts each module into a super-
comfortable "lounger".
What emerges in all the collections is a new concept of exploiting the divan inspired by
the contemporary lifestyle: the seats are no longer isolated temples of relaxation, but
"islands" where you can let yourself go, read, chat with friends, or even work, while
keeping the comfort factor well to the fore. Like in Box, where the infinite potential of
the supersoft duck-down "loose cushions" can be exploited in ultra-personal
arrangements. The ultimate synthesis of this research is Loft , in which the patented
mechanism enables the backrest/armrest unit to be slid backwards, modifying the depth
of the seating area and transforming the divan into something completely different: a
chaise-longue, a multifunctional platform, a bed.
The immediately recognisable character of an Arketipo is its suggestive style, further
underlined by the selection of the fabrics. This objective has been achieved through a
corporate visibility consolidated through investments and through the efforts made in
this direction. The process has involved not only the restyling of the trademark at the
start of 2002, but also the strategic co-ordination of all the corporate communication,
both institutional and product-related, from the advertising campaigns to the website,
from the catalogues to the Trade fair stand design.
